If you've ever been to the back of the store you may have noticed a cozy shed outside filled with beach product. This year we've moved that shed to the side and have added a new shed, dubbed "Dr. Cavity's Candy Shack". Inside will be a variety of penny candies, old fashioned as well as new. We have instituted a fun, smiling tooth as our logo and will be passing out tooth brushes to all our costumers. A soundtrack of candy related songs will be played and the decor will be upbeat and colorful. Next door is the "Beach Hut" where you can shop for all your beach related needs. Outside we will be importing sand which will allow you to "test drive" the beach products as well as creating a play area for the kids.
This February Dr. Gravity visited the Toy Fair in New York City to scope out the most innovative and fun products for this year. The Toy Fair spans two floors in the enormous Jacob Javit's center and has thousands of venders, spanning from new family businesses to the familiar household brands such as Melissa & Dog.
Dr. Gravity's was very successful in finding many new product this year. Here are a few:
(Come into the store to see the rest of our new product!)
Balloon Blaster:
Great for kids who really want a balloon or may be too young to fly a kite. There is a balloon on a string with a remote control that allows the balloon to fly higher or lower.
Glittertoo's Kits:
Cheap and easy to do, these glitter tattoo kits allow anyone to create fun tattoos made out of glitter.
Smak A Ball:
A fun beach or yard game that's perfect for anyone no matter what their ability is.
Each player has a hoop and a beach ball, the ball is caught and thrown using the hoop.
Modern children are growing into a society with depleting resources. Increasingly we see the use of green energy, with solar panels and wind mills. This kit enables children to learn more about these resources in a fun way.
With Wind Power 2.0 you can build a wind powered generator, capable of recharging a AA battery. How does this work? The kit explains, but basically the wind will spin the turbine which turns an electric generator and in turn charges the rechargeable battery. Take the windmill apart and you can build a model vehicle and use the battery to power them.
These are great for learning, fun or science fairs and projects.
Dr. Gravity's has Wind Power 2.0 in stock, just in time for the holiday season.
Furby was first released in 1998 and was extremely popular with kids at the time. Like many toys of the 90s though, they went out of popularity. Hasbro is determined to bring them back, so they've received a makeover! They now have LED eyes, new colors (white, black, orange, teal, purple, yellow) and there is an app (for iphone/ipad) to translate Furbish to English. They dance and talk, too!
The general purpose of a Furby is to teach kids responsibility. The Furby is full of emotion and needs attention, much like a pet. Does your kid want a hamster? Try getting them a Furby to see if they're ready for a real pet. Furby is being released to stores today, September 16. The price is set to be $54. Check out this video to get a glimpse of the updated Furby:
What are your thoughts on the new Furby? Would you buy one?
